If you've been working around broken teeth, chewing on one side, avoiding certain foods, or hiding your smile because several problems have piled up at once, fixing one tooth at a time may no longer make sense. At Family Dental Care in West Palm Beach, we help patients step back and look at the whole picture, then build a coordinated plan that addresses everything together. That approach is what we call full mouth reconstruction.
Full mouth reconstruction is a customized treatment plan that rebuilds or restores most or all of the teeth in both the upper and lower jaws. It is not a single procedure. It brings together several treatments we already provide, sequenced so each step supports the next. Depending on your needs, a plan might include crowns, bridges, inlays and onlays, root canal therapy, gum disease treatment, extractions, bone grafting, dental implants, or implant-supported dentures. We often use the term interchangeably with full mouth rehabilitation, since the goal is to restore how your mouth works as much as how it looks.
The people who benefit most usually have more than one issue at the same time. Our team regularly sees situations like these:
- Multiple worn, cracked, or broken teeth
- Several missing teeth, or teeth that can't be saved
- Older dental work that is failing in several places
- Gum disease that has affected the support around the teeth
- Loose or ill-fitting dentures that need repair or replacement
- A combination of decay, damage, and gaps that affects chewing and confidence
Your first visit begins with a thorough dental exam and a conversation about what's bothering you and what you'd like to change. We look closely at your teeth, gums, bite, and any existing restorations, and we include an oral cancer screening as part of a complete evaluation. Every plan depends on a healthy foundation, so if we find active decay or gum disease, those come first. Treating that early with scaling and root planing or other gum care can make the rest of your treatment more predictable.
From there, we walk you through your options in plain terms. Some patients are good candidates for implants. Others are better served by bridges or dentures, at least as a starting point. If bone has been lost where teeth used to be, bone grafting may be part of the conversation. We also offer Digital Smile Design and cosmetic smile-design consultations so you can understand how the finished result is planned before treatment begins. If you feel anxious about dental work, ask us about oral sedation.
How Treatment Comes Together
Because full mouth reconstruction draws on general, restorative, cosmetic, and surgical care, the order matters. A typical plan might start with extractions and gum treatment, move to grafting or implant placement, and finish with crowns, bridges, veneers, or implant-supported teeth. Our office handles complex treatment planning across these disciplines, so you can have more of your care coordinated in one place without being sent between offices.
For patients missing most or all of their teeth, we offer several full-arch solutions, including All-on-X dental implants, fixed implant-supported bridges, and snap-in implant-supported dentures. Patients who prefer a non-implant route can choose conventional complete or partial dentures. If your bite needs adjusting, clear aligners may come into play. Cosmetic finishing options such as porcelain or composite veneers, composite bonding, gum contouring, and teeth whitening can refine the final appearance. We work through these choices with you based on your health, preferences, and budget.
Aftercare and Long-Term Results
Your new smile needs ongoing care to last. Daily brushing and flossing remain essential, and many patients need specific cleaning techniques around implants or bridges, which we'll show you hands-on. Regular dental cleanings and exams let us catch small issues early. For patients with a history of gum disease or with implants, we provide periodontal maintenance and implant maintenance visits tailored to that work.
If you grind or clench your teeth, we may recommend a night mouth guard to protect your restorations. Results vary from person to person, and we'll be honest with you about what to expect from your specific plan. We're also here if something unexpected happens. Our office offers emergency dental appointments, including same-day emergency care, so a chipped crown or sudden discomfort doesn't have to wait.
Insurance, Payment, and Booking Your Consultation
Because full mouth reconstruction is planned in stages, we can often help you spread treatment out over time in a way that fits your schedule and finances. We accept all major PPO insurance plans and file claims for you, and we welcome self-pay patients as well. Before treatment begins, we review your plan with you so you understand each phase and its costs.
Whether you live in West Palm Beach, Palm Beach, or Palm Beach Gardens, Drs. Michael Westcott and Sujay Trivedi and our team are ready to help you find a clear path forward. Call our office or request an appointment to schedule your consultation. We'll listen, explain your options, and build a plan around you.
