Why choose us

Benefits of Teeth Whitening

Two Ways to Brighten

Choose in-office whitening for faster results in one visit, or take-home whitening to brighten gradually on your own schedule.

Fast In-Office Results

In-office whitening suits busy patients or anyone preparing for a special event who wants a noticeable change quickly.

Flexible Take-Home Option

Take-home whitening suits patients who prefer to whiten comfortably at home at their own pace.

Guided by Your Dentist

Dr. Trivedi or Dr. Westcott checks your teeth and gums first so whitening fits your smile and oral health.

Fits Your Smile Plans

We can coordinate whitening with other cosmetic care, such as veneers or bonding, for a balanced, natural-looking result.

Coffee, tea, red wine, and the simple passage of time all leave their mark on tooth enamel. Over the years, those surface stains build up until a smile looks noticeably duller than it once did. Professional teeth whitening lifts much of that discoloration, and at Family Dental Care in West Palm Beach, we offer two ways to do it: a Take-Home system you use on your own schedule and an In-Office treatment completed in our chair. Both start with a conversation about your teeth and your goals, so the option you choose fits the way you live.

Most people who ask us about whitening fall into a few familiar situations. Some are daily coffee or tea drinkers who have watched their teeth take on a yellow or brown tint. Others have a wedding, graduation, job interview, or reunion coming up and want a brighter smile in the photos. Many simply notice that their teeth have darkened gradually with age and want to refresh their appearance without more involved cosmetic work.

Professional whitening uses a stronger, more controlled approach than store-bought strips or toothpastes. It is also guided by a dentist who has examined your mouth first. Dr. Michael Westcott and Dr. Sujay Trivedi both practice general and cosmetic dentistry. That means we look at whitening in the context of your overall oral health rather than as a standalone product. If something else is affecting the color of your teeth, we can identify it before you invest in treatment.

In-Office whitening is done entirely at our office during a single visit. Because the treatment happens under our direct supervision, it suits patients who want a noticeable change quickly, such as someone preparing for an event later that week. It also appeals to patients who prefer to hand the process over to us and skip the daily routine at home.

Take-Home whitening gives you professional-grade whitening that you apply yourself over a period of days or weeks. It works well for patients with busy schedules who would rather not set aside chair time. It also suits patients who like to brighten gradually and stop once they reach a shade they are happy with. Some patients use take-home whitening to maintain results after an in-office session. We will explain how each option works for your situation and help you decide which makes the most sense.

What Candidates Should Know Before Whitening

Whitening works on natural tooth enamel. It does not change the color of crowns, bridges, veneers, fillings, or composite bonding. If you have restorations on visible front teeth, whitening your natural teeth could leave those restorations looking mismatched. We will talk with you about that possibility before you begin. Some stains also sit deeper within the tooth and respond poorly to whitening. In those cases, options such as porcelain veneers, composite veneers, or composite bonding may be a better route, and we offer all of them.

Healthy teeth and gums matter too. We may recommend a dental exam and cleaning first. A cleaning removes surface buildup, and an exam lets us address cavities or gum concerns that should be treated before whitening. Here are a few points worth keeping in mind as you consider treatment:

  • Whitening affects natural enamel, not existing dental work
  • Deep or internal discoloration may call for a different cosmetic approach
  • Treating active dental problems first helps you get the most from whitening
  • Your starting shade and habits influence how much your teeth brighten

Aftercare and Keeping Your Results

Whitening results are not permanent. The same foods, drinks, and habits that stained your teeth originally will gradually do so again. Coffee, tea, red wine, dark sauces, and tobacco are the most common culprits. Cutting back, rinsing with water after stained drinks, and brushing consistently can help your brighter smile last longer.

Some patients notice temporary tooth sensitivity during or after whitening. If that happens, let us know, and we can adjust your approach. Regular cleanings and exams at our office also help remove new surface stains before they build up. Patients with a take-home system can occasionally touch up their shade at home as needed.

Insurance and Payment

Teeth whitening is generally considered a cosmetic treatment, so dental insurance plans often do not cover it. We accept all major PPO insurance plans. Our team can help you understand what your plan includes, especially if you are scheduling a cleaning or exam before whitening. We also welcome self-pay patients and will be clear about the cost of your chosen option before treatment begins.

If you are ready for a brighter smile, we would be glad to help. We see patients from West Palm Beach, Palm Beach, and Palm Beach Gardens. Contact our office to schedule a visit, and we will talk through take-home and in-office whitening so you can choose the option that fits you best.
